SScibelliPolice Chief Steve Scibelli was hired by the City of North Bend in August 2001. Chief Scibelli came to the department from Kelso Washington where he had served his entire law enforcement career.

Chief Scibelli is married to wife Jeanette and they have four grown children.

The North Bend Police Department's number one emphasis is enforcing the Oregon State laws, North Bend City ordinances, traffic laws, and investigating suspected crimes.

When asked about his personal goals for the Police Department, Chief Scibelli stated “ our future is dependent on our ability to continue to improve and adapt to change. We will strive to serve our citizens and deliver safety and quality service to our customers.”

Chief Scibelli feels that the North Bend Police Department members recognize their responsibility to maintain order, while affording dignity and respect to every individual, and that North Bend has a wonderful quality of life.

Capt. Ron Akers has been with the City of North Bend Police Department since 1984 where he traveled through the ranks from patrol officer to his now position of Captain.  Capt. Akers graduated from the Oregon Police Academy in 1985 and has since attended the F.B.I. National Law Enforcement Academy in 1997.

Capt. Akers started his police career in 1978 when he served as a M.P. in the U.S. Army from 1978 until 1981.  He then was hired on by the Coos County Sheriff's Department where he worked for one year before being hired by the City of North Bend.

Capt. Akers duties consist of:

*All Administration duties

*Computer system/network coordinator

*In charge of the Telecommunications and Records departments

*In charge of the hiring of department personnel

*Oversees the Volunteer program

*Oversees the Evidence Room

*Citizen fingerprinting

*Patrol Division
